A∀
The Video A∀ is formed at the Zen garden of the sub-temple of the monastery Nanzen Konchi-in-Ji, Kyoto, Japan. The garden is designed, by its builder Kobori Enshu, as a two-dimensional painting. The video shows the garden on a rainy day. With a barely perceptible minimal intervention in the otherwise untreated documentary footage, the relationship between image and sound is being discussed. The sound of the falling raindrops is played back in reverse, the image of the rain is left in the original timeline. Imperceptibly the relationship between sound and image turns round during the entire length of the video.
