DROOM

2009, sound/object installation, blank cupper wires on wall, contact microphones, cables, audio interface, computer running ableton live patch, loudspeaker

Realized at Fotogalerie Vienna for the exhibition: PERFORMANCE II Übertragung und Übersetzung.

Droom is a space oriented sound and object installation. Blank cupper wires are pinned to the walls. Some lead to different electromagnetic devices (like neon lights), some are attached to contact microphones. They all detect and transport random noise which is scarcely audible.

All these signals are processed by an Ableton live patch and can be manipulated by visitors using single-turn potentiometers. By doing so they turn the formerly random noise into a musical pattern.
